"That The Headies (Hip Hop World Awards) is ranked as the biggest music awards in Nigeria is not in doubt. With its 8th consecutive season coming up this October, The Headies has grown from an ephemeral award ceremony to the norm. It has practically become a contemporary sub-culture with enormous respect and prestige both home and abroad. In the past, locally organized awards shows were disdained, however thanks to the Hip Hop World Awards this has changed for the better. Artistes now look forward to winning a Headie because of the prestige associated with it and this has over the years rubbed off on other awards ceremonies and big music events.

The Headies (Hip Hop World Awards) made its’ entry into the Nigerian music scene with the objective of rewarding genuine talent and hard work. This objective has been carried out to the letter. Hip Hop World Awards continually sets the standard when it comes to Nigerian music award shows. Asides what The Headies represents in the music industry, it is also aesthetically something to desire. The Headie plaque itself is a 21 carat gold statue."

 The Headies Awards, 2014 was held at the Eko Hotel's Convention Center on December 14, 2014. Hosted by multimedia personality, Toke Makinwa and Mega Comedian, BasketMouth with nominees including but not limited to; Tiwa Savage, Olamide, IcePrince Zamani, Davido, Phyno, OrtiseFemi, Pheelz, 2Face, Patoranking, Kemi Adetiba, Cynthia Morgan, Sarkodie, PoslyTD, Yemi Alade, Dr. Sid and many more.
